Who can send messages from our SMS Engine account?

It’s up to you! SMS messages can be sent from the website by anyone who is given the username and password information. Remember, only give access to those who will be organising your text communication.

How do you set-up the database of contacts?

Easy. Simply cut and paste the contacts you wish to add into a specially prepared excel spreadsheet. Then save this as a CSV (comma deleted) file. Simply locate the ‘Upload CSV file’ button and follow the prompts given.

Contacts can be added manually by clicking ‘Add New Member’ under the Tasks section on your account page. This is not ideal for adding or amending many contacts. It is best to keep a MASTER spreadsheet of contacts for your organisation and when changes occur, you can simply re-upload it.

What happens if a member changes their mobile number?

Not a problem. You can make the necessary changes by using the ‘Add New Member’ or ‘Edit/Delete Members’ options under the Tasks panel on your account page. It is very easy to make corrections or changes to the contact database. If you want to make many changes you can alter your MASTER excel spreadsheet and then simply re-upload it.

How can we register for an account?

Easy. Simply click the ‘Register’ button on the Home page of our website. You will be required to fill in your organisations details and choose a username and password for the account. We will verify your account the same day and automatically allocate your 20 free SMS credits to get you started.

Do our SMS have an expiry date?

If your account has not be used for a period of 12-months it will be will be closed, and the SMS credits will expire, if your account has sent out SMS within the last 12 months, credits will NOT expire.

What is a One-Way SMS Message?

A one-way message does not allow the recipient to reply to the message. You should select one-way messaging when you simply want to notify a member of something, and you do not require a response. A one-way message is sent to the recipient using your preselected message header.

What do you mean by a message header?

When you send a one way SMS you have the opportunity to select a message header (max 10 characters). When the recipient opens up the SMS, your message header will appear at the top of the message. For example Wests Districts Cricket Club may choose WESTS DCC as their message header.

What is a Two-Way SMS Message?

A two-way message allows the recipient to reply to the message. The SMS replies can be found in the ‘SMS Inbox’ located on the ‘Tasks’ panel on your account page. There is also the facility to have replies sent to the organisations nominated email address. This can be selected by referring to the ‘Edit Profile’ function on the Tasks Panel.

What is a Scheduled Message?

A scheduled message allows you to send a SMS to your recipients at a nominated future date and time. This is a great organising feature, especially if you want to send reminders!
